NerdLacquer Götterdämmerung

Continuing the opera series is the last of the four operas from Der Ring des Nibelungen: Götterdämmerung (Twilight of the Gods).  This last opera is full of love, despair, betrayal, and death.  So much drama in one opera.

Pictured is three coats of NerdLacquer Götterdämmerung.  NerdLacquer describes Götterdämmerung as:
a deep twilight blue-purple duochrome with royal, violet, periwinkle, and plum glitter.  As deep and sparkling as the evening sky. DRAMA.
When I first saw this polish I had heart palpitations.  I love it.

Love!

NerdLacquer Walküre

I like operas.  They're deep, full of complex sounds, and generally involve pretty fantastic musical scores with great parts for the percussion section.  Once upon a time, I used to play percussion, stopping only once I graduated from college.  Because of my joy for music I was pleasantly surprised to see that a new collection from NerdLacquer was inspired by an opera from composer Richard Wagner.  Music from Wagner was the stuff I would play when I was angry or depressed in high school.  It was great.

Wagner composed a series of epic operas that was known as Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung).  The first opera is Das Rheingold and NerdLacquer based off this polish but I failed to buy it (oops).  The next opera is Die Walküre which includes a piece that never fails to remind me of the Imperial March (you know, from Star Wars).  Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) features the warrior-goddess Brünnhilde as she defends Siegmund in his battle with Hunding.

Pictured is three coats of NerdLacquer Walküre.  NerdLacquer describes Walküre as:
demi-matted steel armor grey with white and gold microshimmer, plus gold and charcoal glitter.  Complex, fearless, and equally fabulous with a glossy top coat.  Perfect shade for your fiercest warrior-goddess mood.
Believe NerdLacquer's description, I felt invincible every time I wore this to strength training.

NerdLacquer Shiny

When something is Shiny, something is great. That's how the term is used in one of the greatest television shows ever, Firefly.  This term is used a lot by my favorite character on the show, Kaylee.  Kaylee is pretty awesome because not only is she adorable, sweet, and positive, but she's the ships mechanic.  I can appreciate a woman who serves as a positive role model for women in STEM fields.

Shown here is three coats of NerdLacquer Shiny.  Shiny is a light blue based polish which contains silver, white, and light blue pieces of square and octagonal glitter.

Shiny is one of my recent Nerds.  Its been a lemming for a while so I was thrilled when I managed to capture it during a restock of NerdLacquer polish in June.

NerdLacquer Gorramit

This was my last NerdLacquer polish back in May.  Since then, I've added three more NerdLacquer polishes to my collection which you'll also be seeing in the coming weeks. Today I'm showing you NerdLacquer Gorramit.  Gorramit is my least favorite NerdLacquer, and the first NerdLacquer I purchased.

Since this was my last NerdLacquer in May, this is when I actually swatched the polish.  If I ever do a purge, this will probably one that doesn't make the cut; I don't like wearing it.

Gorramit is a polish from NerdLacquer's Firefly Collection.  Gorramit was used an alternative to a swear word in old western movies, and since Firefly is a sci-fi western, the use of that phrase in the series was natural.

Shown here is three coats of NerdLacquer Gorramit. It's a golden based glitter packed with pieces of red, orange, and yellow glitter.

NerdLacquer Pinin' for the Fjords

Good morning! Today's a Monty Python's Flying Circus kind of day.  A Dead Parrot Sketch kind of day.

"...And when I bought [the Norwegian Blue Parrot] not half an hour ago, you assured me that its lack of movement was due to being tired and shagged out after a long squawk."
"It's probably probably pinin for the fjords."
"Pinin for the fjords, what kind of talk is that?"

Five coats of NerdLacquer Pinin' for the Fjords.  My bottle of Pinin' for the Fjords is definitely more purple than Norwegian Blue, but it does contain Norwegian Blue glitter, purple glitter, and small specks of silver glitter.

NerdLacquer Entirely Unlike Tea

How hard is it to get a cup of tea while traveling through the universe?  It's pretty hard as Arthur Dent found out in the novel The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.  The Nutrimatic Drink Dispenser, when asked to produce a drink, "makes an instant but highly detailed examination of the subject's taste buds, a spectroscopic analysis of the subject's metabolism, and then sends tiny experimental signals down the neural pathways to the taste centers of the subject's brain to see what is likely to be well received."  The end result is a cup of liquid that is "almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea."

Today's polish is what that tea would look like, were it a nail polish and painted onto my fingers.

Pictured on my tips is three coats of NerdLacquer Entirely Unlike Tea. This polish contains silver and iridescent glitter suspended in a nude pink base.  It's an amazing nude with a kick of glitter. It's almost, but not quite, entirely unlike most nudes.

NerdLacquer All of Time and Space

The last polish I have to share with you this week is based off a quote from the Doctor at the start of the fifth series and beginning of the Eleventh Doctor.

So... All of time and space. Everything that ever happened or ever will.  Where do you want to start?
I'm not up to date on Series 7 and looking for clips this past week has induced a severe doctor nostalgia.

On my nails are five coats of NerdLacquer All of Time and Space.  Yes, five coats.  Why so many?  The mint base is very sheer in this polish and I wasn't in the mood for visible nail line. Once you get a few coats on the nail bed, the additional layers add depth to the silver micro glitter and the fuchsia medium hexagonal glitter.

Here's the big question for you though.  Does this polish make you want to take off in the middle of the night with a raggedy man?

NerdLacquer Don't Blink

Weeping Angels are by far the most terrifying creatures in the universe.  They're as old as the universe, no one really knows where the come from, and they were once called the lonely assassins.  The first episode they appear in is during Series 3, the same episode where we learn that time is actually a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey ... stuff.

The Doctor explains Weeping Angels much better.

Scary!

Pictured here is three coats of NerdLacquer Don't Blink.  It's a stone grey polish littered with pieces of white and grey glitter giving it the same appearance as a Weeping Angel.

NerdLacquer I Think You Call Me . . . Sexy

Recently I acquired some NerdLacquer polishes from a friend who didn't desire them as much as she'd originally anticipated.  Her loss is my gain however, as my Nerd collection grows to 6.5 gorgeous shades.  For some reason I've only shown one of them previously, and that was over a year ago on nubs.  So settle in and prepare for a visual smörgåsbord of nerdalicious polishes.

I'm starting with all my Dr. Who themed polishes.  The first was inspired by an episode of Dr. Who called The Doctor's Wife, from Series 6.  It was written by author Neil Gaiman, an author I've really come to enjoy after reading his novels such as Neverwhere.

The video below shows the scene from The Doctor's Wife.  I've skipped ahead to the most relevant part, but feel free to rewind and watch all the interactions between the Doctor and Idris.

This is probably one of the best scenes from Dr. Who and one of the most memorable.

Today I'm wearing three coats of NerdLacquer I Think You Call Me . . . Sexy.  It's a Tardis blue polish with medium hexagonal blue and silver glitter, and little holo glitter bits thrown in.  It's gorgeous, just like the Tardis herself.

All of Time and Space

NerdLacquer's All of Time and Space is an awesome glitter nail polish based off of Dr. Who.  It has a seafoam green base with little specs of silver and purple glitter, medium hexagonal purple and silver glitter, and large hexagonal silver glitters.  So much glitter!

This is four coats of All of Time and Space.  I could have easily gotten away with three but I forgot to wrap my tips until the third coat and then I needed to add a fourth coat to even things out.  This isn't a hungry glitter either, a coat of Seche Vite and it's perfectly smooth.
