NerdLacquer Walküre

I like operas.  They're deep, full of complex sounds, and generally involve pretty fantastic musical scores with great parts for the percussion section.  Once upon a time, I used to play percussion, stopping only once I graduated from college.  Because of my joy for music I was pleasantly surprised to see that a new collection from NerdLacquer was inspired by an opera from composer Richard Wagner.  Music from Wagner was the stuff I would play when I was angry or depressed in high school.  It was great.

Wagner composed a series of epic operas that was known as Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung).  The first opera is Das Rheingold and NerdLacquer based off this polish but I failed to buy it (oops).  The next opera is Die Walküre which includes a piece that never fails to remind me of the Imperial March (you know, from Star Wars).  Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) features the warrior-goddess Brünnhilde as she defends Siegmund in his battle with Hunding.

Pictured is three coats of NerdLacquer Walküre.  NerdLacquer describes Walküre as:
demi-matted steel armor grey with white and gold microshimmer, plus gold and charcoal glitter.  Complex, fearless, and equally fabulous with a glossy top coat.  Perfect shade for your fiercest warrior-goddess mood.
Believe NerdLacquer's description, I felt invincible every time I wore this to strength training.

NerdLacquer Shiny

When something is Shiny, something is great. That's how the term is used in one of the greatest television shows ever, Firefly.  This term is used a lot by my favorite character on the show, Kaylee.  Kaylee is pretty awesome because not only is she adorable, sweet, and positive, but she's the ships mechanic.  I can appreciate a woman who serves as a positive role model for women in STEM fields.

Shown here is three coats of NerdLacquer Shiny.  Shiny is a light blue based polish which contains silver, white, and light blue pieces of square and octagonal glitter.

Shiny is one of my recent Nerds.  Its been a lemming for a while so I was thrilled when I managed to capture it during a restock of NerdLacquer polish in June.

NerdLacquer Gorramit

This was my last NerdLacquer polish back in May.  Since then, I've added three more NerdLacquer polishes to my collection which you'll also be seeing in the coming weeks. Today I'm showing you NerdLacquer Gorramit.  Gorramit is my least favorite NerdLacquer, and the first NerdLacquer I purchased.

Since this was my last NerdLacquer in May, this is when I actually swatched the polish.  If I ever do a purge, this will probably one that doesn't make the cut; I don't like wearing it.

Gorramit is a polish from NerdLacquer's Firefly Collection.  Gorramit was used an alternative to a swear word in old western movies, and since Firefly is a sci-fi western, the use of that phrase in the series was natural.

Shown here is three coats of NerdLacquer Gorramit. It's a golden based glitter packed with pieces of red, orange, and yellow glitter.

Let's Go Brewers

Today I'm off to a Milwaukee Brewer's game at Miller Park.  I can't go to a baseball game without doing my nails in the color of the team I'm supporting so luckily BadAss Polish made it really easy for me to have Brewers nails anytime I want with her Brew Crew glitter topping polish.  If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen this picture I posted when I was going to a game earlier in the year.

On my nails today is two coats of China Glaze Pelican Gray on my main fingers and three coats of Zoya Snow White on my accent nail.  If I wasn't using a glitter topper I'd have used three coats of Pelican Gray for complete coverage.  On my main fingers I dabbed two coats of BadAss Polish Brew Crew.  Brew Crew is made up of large gold hexagonal glitter pieces, large blue square glitter, medium white hexagonal glitter, small blue hexagonal glitter, and then tiny specks of gold glitter.  On my accent nail I stamped baseballs using Color Club Cold Metal and Konad plate m52 and the word baseball using Konad Special Polish in Black and Konad plate m52.

Go Brewers!

Dotted Accent

Another dotted accent nail.  I like doing dots on my accent nails.  It's a really fast, really simple to add a bit of flair to an otherwise simple manicure.

I'm wearing two coats of Catrice Dirty Berry on the majority of my fingers with OPI Fly on my accent nail.  Under Fly I'm using a coat of Seche Vite on top of my base coat to prevent the almost instantaneous staining that comes with wearing Fly.  For the dots I used China Glaze Platinum Silver.

Tea Beauty Cherry Blossom

I found a display of Tea Beauty polishes at my local Walgreens and picked up a color to try out.  Cherry Blossom was my selection because of its nice coral pink hue.

Shown here is three coats of Tea Beauty Cherry Blossom.  It's a very stinky polish, but formula wise it's nearly full coverage after one coat.
