Holo Skittles

Nothing makes me happier than a bunch of bright and sunny holographic polishes.  That's what the Color Club Spring 2013 Holo Hues Collection delivers!  I cannot get enough of Color Club this past year.  Their Fall 2012 Halo Hues Collection was superb and their Spring version is even brighter.

Pictured from pinkie to thumb are: Color Club Over the Moon, Color Club Eternal Beauty, Color Club Miss Bliss, Color Club Kismet, and Color Club Beyond.  Not pictured is the orange from the collection,   Color Club Cosmic Fate.

Caution: do not operate motor vehicles while wearing these colors; distractions may occur.  :)

Essie Big Spender

I had the good fortune to find a bin of clearance polish at a Walgreens while I was on vacation in March and picked this pretty polish up.  This polish is Essie Big Spender, from Essie's Fall 2008 Collection.  It's a gorgeous berry color with hints of red and purple.

To achieve this look I used three coats of Essie Big Spender. Very pretty!

Subtle Paisley

I was inspired for this manicure by a gorgeous blue and green paisley scarf I saw a few weeks ago.  I forgot to snap a picture of my inspiration piece but I thought the colors worked really well together.  That's what I tried to incorporate into this manicure.

For my base I used two coats of Kiko 401 Peacock Green then stamped Color Club Perfect Molten on top using Bundle Monster plate BM-315.  Incredibly subtle.

Racetrack Nails

After wearing Zoya Godiva almost every day since it arrived, I decided I needed to spice it up a little bit with some simple nail art.  For this look I'm trying a simple strip down the center of my nail with a little bling.

I started with Zoya Nyx, dabbing a line down the center of each of my nails.  On either side of that line I painted Zoya Godiva to frame Nyx.  I repeated this process one to two times more in order to reach an opaque finish that showed no visible nail line.

While the polish was still wet I dropped a silver rhinestone near my cuticles in the center of Nyx to add a little extra sparkle.  I was hoping the incredibly slow drying time of the PixieDust polishes would help to anchor the rhinestone in place.  And help it did!  The rhinestones pushed down through the color and the sidewalls of the rhinestones were held in place by the polish.  When the rhinestones popped off, a hole could be seen in the polish straight to my base coat.

While sparkly and awesome, this manicure wins the "Most Annoying Manicure" award of the year!  Poor rhinestones didn't even last twenty-four hours before I popped them off; the texture overload on my nails was too much for me to bear.

What are your thoughts on rhinestones?

Zoya Godiva

This polish has become my go-to nude polish for March.  If you don't have any of the new Zoya PixieDust polishes, well, what are you waiting for?  Get one or several!  I purchased Zoya Godiva and Zoya Nyx during one of their recent promotions and I absolutely love them.

Shown here is two coats of Zoya Godiva.

Warning: picture overload ahead.

Do you have any PixieDust polishes?  Which ones are your favorite?  Were you as excited as I was when Zoya announced the PixieDust - Summer Edition polishes?

Four Leaf Clover

Today's manicure is based off of a tutorial from Zoya's blog: Four Leaf Clover Tutorial.  I used their tutorial as the basis for my design, but I tweaked one little thing.  Zoya Ivanka is much too sheer to use on its own.  After three coats I still had visible nail lines so I took everything off and started over - this time with a base to make Ivanka pop.

For my base I used two coats of Orly Lucky Duck, a basic green cream from Orly's Fall 2011 Birds of a Feather Collection.   Next I used two coats of Zoya Ivanka on top of Lucky Duck - it was a little streaky after one coat even over Lucky Duck.  For my accent nail I used two coats of Zoya Ziv although it was completely opaque after one.

To create the clover design I used a small dotting tool to make hearts using Lucky Duck over Ziv.  I did try going straight to Ivanka with no base green, but it took so many coats of Ivanka to be opaque that I wound up smearing the clover leaves when I added top coat.  It was a little frustrating.  On my third try I was able to get the non-smeared design you see here.  Whoo!

Simple St. Pat's Tips

St. Patrick's Day will be upon us shortly and I've been playing around with a few different things I'd like to try on my nails this year.  If you live in a city like mine, St. Patrick's Day is a big deal.  The drinking starts the weekend before the actual holiday and goes all week.  This will be the first year in a while that I won't be hanging out in a bar on St. Paddy's day.  That doesn't mean I can't do something with my nails though!

Today I have a simple green with gold tips manicure to share with you today.  I love how simple and easy to put together this type of manicure is.

For my base I used two coats of Zoya Shawn, a perfect deep green polish with excellent coverage and formula.  At my tips I sponged two layers of SoFlaJo Freaky & Fabulous, a gold holo glitter top coat that pairs perfectly against the green base.

Light Half Moons

Good morning!  Today I have a light spring half moon manicure to share with you.  I haven't done a half moon in a while and it can be a relatively painless piece of nail art.  To create this manicure I used two colors from the 2011 Spring OPI Pirates of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides Collection.

I layered two coats of OPI Skull & Glossbones, then used reinforcement labels to create a barrier for the half-moon and added two coats of OPI Stranger Tides.

It's been awfully rainy this past weekend - perhaps Spring is finally approaching!

OPI Can't Let Go

This is just a quick nail of the day post.  Today I'm wearing two coats of OPI Can't Let Go, a purple liquid sand polish from the Spring 2013 OPI Mariah Carey Collection.

I really like the liquid sand polishes.  The texture is not so much that it grabs at everything and the sparkle in the light is fantastic. The wear time is pretty good too; I'm sitting at four days with this color right now.
