For the (hopefully) next month these are my bite-proof nails.

Recovery Nails
My bottle of Shay arrived in the mail on Thursday and yesterday I traveled to a nail salon to get acrylics. I haven't found a good salon in area so each time I get acrylics it's someplace different. I wish I could find someplace that is able to provide a good quality set (I had a place in the Twin Cities) and I'll keep searching until I do.

I may not have fingernails but I have toenails!
While my fingernails are in a state of disrepair, I thought I'd show off my toes.
I used Zoya Kelly for the base color and Zoya Dove for the "tips." I didn't have any scotch tape to help draw the lines so I made do with double stick tape. Since my other option was masking tape or duct tape I think I made the right decision, but I had a hard time getting the tape to stick. I'm going to buy more scotch tape before I try this again.

Base Coat Promotion
Zoya's newest promotion, buy their color lock system get a free set of nail polishes, is my chance to not only get a base coat that thousands swear by but then get six free polishes (promotion goes through 6/28 if you're interested!). I still have to grow out my nails to actually be able to paint them something, but I figure I'll do a review of the base coats when I use them. I think I'm unique compared to Zoya's other clientele because I work in a laboratory with chemicals and in a machine shop with power tools - my coworkers are male and don't wear polish.

End in Sight?
A month of not being able to stop biting my nails. A month of working full time (as opposed to being a graduate student two days and a working member of society three days). A month of meetings, projects, laboratory experiments, and Chinese language classes. My nail care regime has been cuticle oil and hand lotion (I love that these products are made in the USA), though nothing really helps bitten nails look better.
Since Zoya released their new Touch collection I've been itching to grow my nails out to be able to wear polish again. Since the biting hasn't been able to stop I'm going to get acrylics (not the drugstore ones). I mean serious business - this biting has got to stop. I'm really self-conscious about the way my nails look but I bite in private and then try to hide my nails in public. No good.
