Holo Flowers

The gloomy winter weather has gone and we're left with beautiful, sunny days in Portland.  Perfect weather for wearing my holographic nail polishes.  

I'm wearing Color Club Miss Bliss as my base, then used my dotting tools and Zoya Serenity, Kiko 391, and OPI I Just Can't Cope-acabana for the flowers.

Pineapple Nails

I love pineapples.  I love how sweet they are.  I love the crowns they have on their tops.  I love their shape.  Painting pineapples on my nails have been a nail art bucket list item for me for over two years and when I was invited to a Hawaiian-themed birthday party I knew they'd be perfect.  For this design, I was inspired by the pineapple nails that Elle & Ish did a couple of years ago.

On my nails I'm wearing OPI I Just Can't Cope-acabana, Zoya Talia, and Zoya Purity for my bases.  To create the pineapple I used my dotting tools, OPI I Just Can't Cope-acabana, China Glaze Desert Sun, and Kiko 391.  The chevrons were done using nail vinyls and Zoya Talia over Zoya Purity.  A few gold stars and some top coat later and this manicure was ready to party.

Bonus?  I matched my nails to the pineapple shirt I was wearing.  #AllPineappleEverything

Fox Nails

Fall is here!  Time for some adorable fox nails.  I followed the tutorial from One Nail to Rule Them All to create this look.

Polishes used: OPI My Vampire is Buff, Zoya Jancyn, Zoya Kristen, Zoya Malia, Kiko 391, OPI Love Angel Music Baby.

Kiko Sugar Mat 639 and 641

Textured polishes seems to be quite the thing this year.  OPI, Zoya, Milani, and Barry M all have polishes available now that have a gritty, sandpaper finish.  Kiko Make Up Milano recently released their own line of textured polishes they call Sugar Mat polishes.  My friend Candice from Mademoiselle Candy was able to get two of the shades for me.  I love them!  

Here I'm wearing two coats of Kiko Sugar Mat 641 Strawberry Pink on my nails with Kiko Sugar Mat 639 Golden Mandarin on my accent nail.

Compared to the Zoya Pixie Dust polishes, I found that the drying time of the Sugar Mats were a lot faster.  The sparkle inherent in the polish is also different: Pixie Dust contains silver micro and fine glitter, while the Sugar Mat contains fine gold glitter (thereby creating more of a shimmer than a glitter finish).

I'll definitely be wearing these polishes again and highly recommend the Sugar Mat polishes.

Subtle Paisley

I was inspired for this manicure by a gorgeous blue and green paisley scarf I saw a few weeks ago.  I forgot to snap a picture of my inspiration piece but I thought the colors worked really well together.  That's what I tried to incorporate into this manicure.

For my base I used two coats of Kiko 401 Peacock Green then stamped Color Club Perfect Molten on top using Bundle Monster plate BM-315.  Incredibly subtle.

Kiko Holos

Kiko Make Up Milano is an Italian cosmetics company that has a large line of affordable nail polish available in a variety of colors.  This past quarter they released a couple of new holographic nail polish shades as part of their Lavish Oriental Collection and my friend Candice from Mademoiselle Candy was able to get two of the shades for me!

Both of these swatches were done using Nail Life Nail Revitalizer as the base, two coats of color, and one coat of Seche Vite for a top coat.

Kiko 401: Peacock Green

The first is Kiko 401, Peacock Green, a very pretty steel blue holographic polish.  I've seen reviews calling this color a bright peacock green but I did not find that to be the case.  I found 401 to be much more muted, but still very pretty.  It does appear to have undercurrents of green color contained within, but definitely subdued.  I did have a patching problem on my pinky nail so I ended up redoing that nail; here the patching was my fault though: I accidentally applied the polish too thick.

Kiko 402: Jewel Pink

The second polish is Kiko 402, Jewel Pink, a bright pink holographic color.  This is a lovely pink though not incredibly unique.  A patch developed on my pointer finger and I couldn't get it masked/covered very well again.  I'm not sure if it was a more difficult formula or if I didn't wait long enough between coats.
